SOME THOUGHTS FOR JANUARY

Some ideas for dealing with the burdens of life:

  • Accept that some days you’re the pigeon, and some days you’re the statue.
  • Always keep your words soft and sweet just in case you have to eat them.
  • Drive carefully. It’s not only cars that can be “recalled” by their maker.

WHAT DOES A PODIATRIST DO?

A podiatrist will treat and provide advice for all common foot and nail disorders: e.g. ingrown toe-nails, flat feet, heel pain, bunion, hammer toes, fungal nail & skin infections (athletes foot), verrucae, corns, callous, thick hardened nails, blisters, cracked heels and dry skin. A Podiatrist will also manage conditions for the high risk patient eg. Patients with diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis or peripheral arterial disease. No problem is too big or too small. Often these are painful and recurring conditions that can be easily and painlessly treated during your routine treatment. When performed regularly routine treatments provide a way of maintaining good foot health, preventing pain and further complications.

FAQ:

What is the difference between a Chiropodist and a Podiatrist?

Both terms refer to practitioners who specialise in the diagnosis and treatment of foot conditions. The term Chiropodist has been more commonly used throughout Ireland and the UK, while Podiatrist is used in the rest of the English speaking world. Although the term Podiatrist is increasingly been used here. The two terms are interchangeable but strictly speaking the difference between the two professions is based on education and scope of practice.

Can I claim back on my Health Insurance?

Yes, receipts are available for VHI, Quinn Healthcare & Avivas. Refunds will vary according to individual policies.

Do I need a referral?

No, a referral is not necessary. Simply book an appointment with your podiatrist for assessment and treatment.

Is Treatment Painful?

No, we are here to help. Corns, calluses and hard skin removal are painless. In-grown toe nails depending on their severity may be a little painful, but I am very gentle and often patients are surprised at how painless my treatments are.
